Scoops For Troops
Planning for the first Scoops for Troops ice cream social began in early 2008 by Sandy Masterson, Gwen Olsen, and Dawn Meyers. Each woman had lost a loved one to war and wanted to do something positive in their memory.
It was initially planned as an open house for family and friends to remember Conor, Daniel, and Adam, but when over 1000 people showed up, and $4,500 was raised, it became obvious that such an event was something the greater community was interested in.
The following year, the Tribute to the Troops 5K Run /3K Walk was added, and the focus was expanded from the three boys, to remembering all our fallen, and honoring all who serve. The event has continued to evolve and grow in participation each year, and to date, over $47,000 has been given to Tribute to the Troops Fallen Heroes Children's Education Fund.
About the Fund
The Tribute to the Troops Fallen Heroes Children's Education Fund provides financial assistance to the surviving children of our fallen heroes to help defray the cost of post-secondary education. Tribute to the Troops opens and funds a 529 education account in the child's name in honor of their hero. A full 100% of the amount received or raised for the fund is contributed into 529 accounts or directly to the child if already enrolled in a post-secondary program.
Tribute to the Troops is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. For more information, please visit www.tributetothetroops.org.

The primary goal of Scoops for Troops is to provide a fun energetic way for the community to come together and express appreciation for all of those, past and present, who serve our country. Much effort is made to keep the cost of participation low, so that it does not become a deterrent to anyone wishing to participate.
This is achieved through the generosity of many individuals, organizations, and businesses that provide ideas, contacts, talent, money, goods, services, word of mouth, and volunteers.
